I got a response from city engineer Frank Payne by 8:30, and by the time I rode Hinkle to work at 1:00 PM, the pothole was totally filled and looks like this:
We’d like to thank city engineer Frank Payne for the quick response. We know that traffic engineering, like traffic enforcement, is a pretty thankless job that the public typically only voices complaints to. So, thanks, Denton traffic engineers.
Moral of the story: If you see something, say something. Report road hazards when you see them, Dentonites.
I thanked Frank in an email and received a prompt reply. That is awesome. I also let him know how much better Hinkle was this week after they cleaned the surface of the road for the first time in probably six months last week. Now if they’ll repaint the lines they paved over it will back to alright. Hinkle is in bad need of a complete tear down and repave but some fresh lines will do. You have probably noticed too that almost every car going south on Hinkle drives with their tires on top of or inside of the bike lane. Seems like this is due to the smallish car lane but more to do with the bad road surface. I’ll get a good video of this in the coming days.
Wow, that was a quick response! It sounds like you guys are building a good relationship with the city.
